Ibatas Cemetery

Ibatas Cemetery or ‘Gold Hill’ (Zelta kalniņš) is in Strazde Parish, about 3 km east of Strazde Lutheran Church, 300 m north-east of Ilbatas Farm. This is an isolated, somewhat elongated, 8 m-high wooded hill, measuring 50´40 m, conspicuous among the surrounding fields. After the First World War, a human skull and decorated chain-holders with chains were found when digging on the hill. Archaeological excavation has never been undertaken here, so the burial site is not precisely dated.
